well, its been a long
time comin, and for that I apologise, but like so many other painters, we've
suddenly been engulfed in Halloween and bookings for Christmas.
My time at the
convention was spread between body painting with the lovely Lesley, and helping people to choose some fabulous colours
to add to their kit. Whilst some would say I was a very bad influence on
their failing fight not to overspend on just one more colour, but if
ever there was a product where you can do that without a pang of guilt then
this is it !! Just seeing the paints laid out on the table was too much
for some - the majority of the delegates found it really usefull to
be able to play and try out the colours before buying the right ones to both
compliment and replace other brands. Lots of positive comments about
the paint, and some lovely ideas for future colours too, and lots of promisses
to practice with their chosen colours, I just knew everyone would love
being able to play with the paints and working with these paints on the lead up
to the convention has had my customers clammering to get involved, and watching
the childrens faces light up after each face painting has been great
fun. The mums love the paint too as its so easy to remove.
Over the few days we were there, and actually using the paints as you
would on a booking, both body painting and face painting, enabled me
to show what the possibilities are and I know that many of the VIP
demonstrators loved the bright density of the colours too. It was great
to see so many painters - both newbies and all our long standing friends having
a play with the kit and as time goes by and everyone gets used
to using it I'm sure there will be more colours on the way to enhance and
suplement the range of 80 colours to choose from.
Hot favourites over the
weekend were deffinately the Ziva blue and the new Ploppy Orange which has all
the beautiful density of the Ziva together with endless blending
posibilities - I've fallen in love all over again and my absolute favorite at
the moment is the Ploppy orange and old red which blend really well, and I
for one know there are lots of you out there who would love to see more of it
being used on pumpkins and halloween butterfies to name a couple of ideas over
the coming few weeks.... Can we do a comp Nat ?? would be great to see what
people do with it ... lets call it - ploppy orange posibilities !!
anyone with a ploppy orange face paiting send it over - lets share !!
It was great to see
Marco again and to meet and put faces to names we talk to on
chat lists and facebook.
I've put in a couple of
pictures of our piece on Saturday to reflect the theme of the weekend, and
special thanks toour model, Karen Whittingham, who has just landed a fabulous
role in the new film Bogo and Flit being released next year (a bit like shreck
but in real people rather than annimation) so well done and respect to you for
being able to manage to model wearing that hat !! (which is for sale BTW ! -
offers please - and all of the proceeds will go to Brian Wolfe's medical
fees fund)
I'm looking forward to
painting over the coming couple of weeks mostly for Halloween events and
parties - and I promise i'll get some ploppy orange paintings over to you
all, but first of all this ....
Everyone waits for the
one big phone call in their career and what ever your goal or dream mine came
true on Sunday Night.. it would be an understatement to say thiat
it threw the Elvins household into a state of shock !
the conversation went
something like this..
Me; Hi Lisa, whats
happening ?
Lisa; Are you free
on Thursday to come and do some body painting for me ?
Me; Yea should be
able to fit somthing in, what do you need?
Lisa; Im working
on the James Bond Premier in Birmingham, can you paint some models gold
for us?
Me; Just try
and stop me !!! - how many and what time do you need them ready for ?
(have to say - what ever
she said next I didnt hear as it was spinning around the lounge, and jumping up
and down!)
Lisa; As many as you
want babes, we know you'll do a great job. Shall I leave it with you to
sort - just have them ready for 6pm so that they'll be able to greet the
VIP's
Me; No problem matey -
see you very soon then
END OF CALL
From that moment on -
things have been very sureal in our house, things have been coloured gold,
discussions about what to stand on, shoes and hair styles even the size of the
models, has taken precidence over what do you want for tea? and shall I
take you to school now ?
I wonder if i'm going to
wake from a wonderful dream and am as i write, packing my bags to make sure I
have every shade of gold paint (Superstar of course) and enough of it to cover
the models we've lined up.
A crack team will be
arriving at Cineworld (IMAX) on thursday afternoon and having tickets to the
after party thoughts go to what we might wear, the Cornish Pixies (AKA
Nic & Pete (who gets to be a bond lookalike for the night! (body
painted of course!) Jus, Alice, Jen and me, all painting, our other
models, and Nathan, (Jens other half and my little helper) with a photographer
will rock up and paint like mad, producing some pretty spectacular bond themed
paintings for the guests to have photos with over the course of the
evening. - to say we cant wait would be an understatement. I'll blog
again next week (I promise! ) and let you know how we got on - in the meantime,
Happy Halloween everyone ...
